A real nice device.
I have been dreaming of closing my loop on a linear glass scale and now It can be done because of this device.
Arturo and Tom really made this happen for me.
Thanks again for the prototypes Arturo!!! And  thanks Tom for the support in c programming and the kflop!!

Now I just to work out some of my own bugs in my system and I know I will be happily making really accurate chips and parts in the next couple weeks!!

Thanks for your equipment, support and patience,

Rob

The C68 Adapter basically provides a pinout equivalent to a PC Parallel Port or Smooth Stepper to make KFLOP easily connect to boards or systems that are setup for that physical/electrical arrangement.

Also available are configuration and C Programs that allow Mach3 or KMotionCNC operation nearly plug-and-play out-of-the-box to support basic devices like Step/Dir Drives, 0-10V Spindle control, and MPGs.

Check it out.  It looks like CNC4PC did great work.

Is this device the only way to connect linear glass scales?
I have been dreaming that too, but my understanding was that the Kanalog could do that too.

Eric,

you can connect linear scales directly to the KFlop.
Either via the relevant pins on JP7, or JP5, which are both 5V tolerant.
I used JP5 for my little probing machine, as JP7 is used by the KStep. You can see how I acheived it at http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,27732.msg196260.html#msg196260

You only need a Kanalog if you want to make use of differential inputs, however most common scales I looked at are not differential.

Hi EC,

No this board is not required to use linear glass scales.

Yes Tom. Thanks

My application is specific to having an existing c23 breakout board in my system. This made it possible for me to only have to replace my previously existing controller with the kflop and it made the the kflop integration very easy. It is compatible with multiple cnc4pc bobs.

Ah, I see.
I was talking having my own system in mind, my motor encoders have a differential output, and also the glass scales I was looking at, are differential.

A different question: could a C68 be used together with a KAnalog?
I assume it can't - it looks me they are mutually exclusive - but would like to be certain.

So this is equivalent to say operating or converting a system that is presently

Parallel port > to gecko

Now is would be kflop > c68 > gecko
Perhaps also adding the ability to close the encoder loop?

So it takes the kflop outputs and makes to pulses look like 5v parallel port pulses?

Guess I'll add this to the list of stuff I want on the shelf.  Although my machine that I run parallel with geckos also has a smooth stepper and I tend to run it in parallel mode more then use the stepper

Hi Bill,

Yes that is correct.  If you have existing breakout boards or cabling that were designed to connect to parallel ports (or Smooth Stepper) this should make it easy to connect to KFLOP without have to do any custom wiring.

Bill,

The C68 is a very simple board.  It basically re-routes the pinout of the Kflop to the pinout we use in our controllers. It makes it very easy to change motion controllers without having to rewire the whole cabinet. The main idea behind it is to promote the use of our breakout boards with it.  Specially our C32 and new C62 boards. Next we will have available the new version of the C68 which will add compatibility of the Kflop with leadshine drivers.

We offer money back on our products, so if you are not satisfied with it you can return it for a full refund.

It is not my intention to hijack this group to promote our products, I just wanted to let guys know I will be around in case someone needs a hand with them.

Thanks.  I figured it was some what a bridge between his and your boards. But also was thinking there might be some magic in it converting signal voltages or something along those lines.

Are there ribbon plugs to db25's that would then plug into this board?

I finally have my second kflop machine coming up and will be using the kmotion interface this time.  So I see the writing on the wall of going to my first machine which is is still parallel at some point and switching it to k to standardize things some more

Right now it is able to run parallel or smooth stepper by selecting parallel port switch boxes to the motor drives.  But. I hardly ever used the ss.  Never really felt like an advantage with this machine so continued to run it parallel 99% of the time for the last 8 some years.

If these would allow easy connection to db25 from the headers that would make it drop in even easier

B,

Yes, you can use ribbon cables to go from the IDC26 connectors to the DB25 to emulate parallel ports:
